	Shopping, parties, gift wrapping....who has time? Here are three easy recipes that will make your life a little easier. The bran muffins are to die for, and are so easy to bake. Being able to keep the batter in the fridge lets you bake one at a time or a whole pan! Need a dish for a potluck....take the 5 cup salad. 'Cooking' was never easier than this! Save room for the pie...it's a good one! Happy holidays to you all! 6-WEEK BRAN MUFFINS 1 box (15 oz) Raisin Bran 3 cups sugar 1 cup oil 4 eggs, beaten 1 quart buttermilk 5 cups flour 5 tsp baking soda 2 tsp salt extra raisins Mix bran flakes, sugar, flour, baking soda, and salt. Add remaining ingredients. Put into muffin tins and bake at 400 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes. Makes 4 to 5 dozen. Batter may be stored in a covered container in refrigerator for up to 6 weeks.	5-CUP SALAD 1 cup mandarin orange sections - drained 1 cup pineapple bits 1 cup coconut 1 cup mini marshmallows 1 cup sour cream Mix well and let stand overnight to set. KEY LIME PIE 1 (6 oz) Ready Crust - graham or chocolate 1 can (6 oz) frozen limeade 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk 3/4 cup sour cream few drops green food coloring 1 (8 oz) carton frozen non-dairy topping, thawed In large bowl, combine limeade (frozen) and milk. Add sour cream and coloring, stir until blended. Fold in dairy topping. Spoon into crust. Chill 6 hours. Garnish as desired. This is a pretty holiday pie because of its soft green coloring. Sprinkle red sugar crystals on the top to make it festive.
	Metallica S&M 2 discs Live recording List Price $25.98 Hello! I'm Gem's kid, and welcome to the first (and hopefully not the last) installment of Seth's Silver Sounds. For my first review I chose a band that I know a lot about. I hope it isn't too biased. Metallica has been releasing music since 1983. S&M (ok...hey! Minds out of the gutter..it stands for "Symphony & Metallica") is their ninth release. This CD is the closest thing they have to a "Best Of" album besides their 1993 live box set. S & M, however, carries a slightly different tune compared to all the rest of Metallica's releases. This time Metallica teamed up with Conductor Michael Kamen and The San Fransisco Symphony Orchestra to give Metallica fans yet another way to interpret their music. Michael Kamen arranged the selected original Metallica songs on this album to be played by a ninety piece orchestra while Metallica plays their songs just the way they were written. Kamen did an outstanding job. Even in some of Metallica's heaviest songs, the orchestra fits like it should have been there all along. There are a few instrumental songs that sound great also. As a Metallica fan, I feel all the songs on the cd are good. I am especially partial to the renditions of "Master Of Puppets" and "Nothing Else Matters." The symphony backs Metallica like a big brother helping his younger sibling put a jigsaw puzzle together. Michael Kamen filled in all the right spots with the right notes and produced an outstanding feeling of wholeness and power. James Hetfield, frontman of Metallica, sings with enthusiam and seems like he's having a ball. His love for playing live can easily be noticed here as he did not stray from his usual live performance attitude. Hetfield, at various times, leaves the singing to the live crowd on hand at two shows recorded last April. In the song, "The Memory Remains," Marianne Faithful's part was carried out by the crowd after being prompted by Hetfield to "come on, sing it!" It gives any fan the chills. For all of the parents out there, this CD has a Parental Advisory. James Hetfeild does swear in 99% of his live performances. This is only their second of nine cds to carry the coveted Parental Advisory sticker. The content of the songs do not depict violence, sexual content, or drug use. The rating is due to language. I don't condone the rating system, but at my place of employment we are required to only sell these releases to someone 18 years of age or older. There's also a "clean" version available of this album. This CD is an overall success. I was a little nervous at hearing that Metallica planned to work with a symphony but at the same time excited. It's a necessity for every Metallica fan's collection. If you like them in the least bit...check out S & M. (I'll say it again..."Symphony and Metallica" for all those who only read the review because they thought I was reviewing some weird metal and bondage video or magazine.)
